'I'd bite Neymar' – Domenech reveals how to stop PSG star

The ex-Strasbourg boss has given advice to his former team on how they can stop the Brazil star from making a difference for PSG on Saturday

Former France manager Raymond Domenech has revealed the excessive means he would use to stop PSG forward Neymar.

The 65-year-old lined out at left-back for both Strasbourg and PSG during his playing career and spoke ahead of Saturday’s meeting between his two former clubs. Domenech is not confident in Strasbourg’s ability to defeat the Parisiens and has urged them to stop Neymar by any means possible.

He admitted that preparing for a match of this magnitude will be difficult for the Strasbourg players, but if he was playing, his gameplan would be focused entirely on stopping the Brazil international.

“It’s a personal thing, each player has his own way to do it,” Domenech told Strasbourg’s official club website. “For me, against Neymar, I would stick to him, show him who I am, bite him, make his life difficult. But would it be sufficient to stop such an armada?”

Domenech does not believe Strasbourg have any chance to win the match, claiming: “No, categorically not. It would be utopian.

“But it can shape the team for the future. To develop the collective defensive mindset they will need in its fight for survival. A victory against Caen would have allowed them to approach the match with more confidence. At the end of the day, it will be important not to give away too much because goal difference can count in the end.

“This is just my opinion. I have no advice to give Thierry Laurey who is a very good coach.”
