Mixed Match Challenge Results (11/27): The Playoffs Begin
Tonight’s Mixed Match Challenge Pre-Show opens up with Vic Joseph & Kayla Braxton welcoming us to the show. They start off by recapping last week’s matches. They then preview and discuss tonight’s matches and inform us that tonight’s episode of Mixed Match Challenge is the start of The Playoffs. The Pre-Show comes to a close.
Tonight’s episode of Mixed Match Challenge opens up with Michael Cole, Renee Young & Vic Joseph welcoming us to the show. They then remind us that tonight’s episode is the start of The Mixed Match Challenge Playoffs. We head right to the ring for the first match of the night and it is Curt Hawkins & Ember Moon vs. Mahalicia.
Curt Hawkins & Ember Moon vs. Mahalicia (Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox): Ember isn’t looking to thrilled with her new partner. Ember starts things off with Fox. Ember looks for the early roll-up, but only gets a two count. Fox does the same and also just gets a two count. Ember gets in some offense and Fox is able to tag out. Mahal steps in and Hawkins isn’t exactly jumping into the ring, almost looking for Ember to take Mahal on. Hawkins finally gets in the ring and Mahal immediately grounds him. Hawkins dodges Mahal a few times and finally lands a dropkick, then clotheslines Mahal out of the ring. Hawkins slides out of the ring, takes out The Singh Brothers, gets up on the apron and Mahal boots him back down to the floor. Mahal works him over, tosses Hawkins back in the ring, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Backstage, Bobby Lashley, Mickie James & Lio Rush are getting prepped for their match for later on tonight. In the ring, Mahal taunts Hawkins a bit and he continues to wear down his opponent. It looks like Samir Singh is bleeding at the bridge of his nose from that mini-brawl with Hawkins. Hawkins finally is able to tag out. Ember with a springboard crossbody and she is really putting the boots to Fox. Fox dodges her, goes for a roll-up, but only gets a two count. Ember with a low superkick, then goes for a pin and gets a very close three count. Ember heads up to the top rope. Hawkins tags her foot as she hits the Eclipse. Hawkins dives in for the pin, but it doesn’t work like that. Ember with a double eclipse on The Singh Brothers on the floor. Mahal runs into the ring, hits the khallas, goes for the cover and that will do it. Winners: Mahalicia (Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox)
We are informed that next week it will be The Miz & Asuka vs. Jimmy Uso & Naomi.
We head backstage where Kayla Braxton asks Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox how it feels to win two straight matches. Fox says that Jinder and The “Singh Sisters” finally listened to her and that is why they won. Mahal mocks Braun Strowman’s “Get these hands” catchphrase and they head off. Mickie James walks by and says that she doesn’t know what Fox was talking about, but she and Bobby came here to dominate.
Country Dominance (Bobby Lashley & Mickie James) vs. B’N’B (Finn Balor & Bayley): Balor and Lashley get things going, but Lashley quickly tags in James. Rush tries to get a “Mickie” chant going, hops up on the apron for a distraction, then James strikes Bayley from behind and attacks her in the corner. Bayley is taken down. Low kick by James, then James with a cover, but only gets a two count. James sends Bayley face first into the top turnbuckle. Bayley gets in one strike. James with a neckbreaker, then goes for a cover, but only gets a two count. Body scissors on Bayley who leans back for a pin. James kicks out, then yanks Bayley to the mat by her hair. Bayley kicks James away and they both hit double clotheslines in the center of the ring. Balor gets the tag and goes to work on Lashley. Balor with a couple of kicks, then a flying forearm. Balor tries to lift Lashley, but doesn’t get it. Balor trips Lashley and hits him with a double stomp. Balor tries for a kick, but gets caught and gets hit with an elbow to the head. Lashley then sends Balor flying down to the announce table. Lashley quickly tosses Balor back into the ring, then goes for a pin, but only gets a two count. Lashley mocks Strowman with the running charge around the outside of the ring. Balor with a sling-blade. Lashley gets back into the ring at 9. Balor looks to tag out, but James pulls Bayley down to the floor. Lashley with a shoulder block to Balor. Lashley charges into the corner and hits the ring post. Balor is able to tag out. Bayley with a flurry of strikes followed by a jumping knee, then she heads to the top rope, but nobody is home. James plants Bayley face first. James with a kip-up. James now heads to the top rope, then nails Bayley with a seated senton, then goes for a cover, but Bayley reverses and gets a two count. James with a kick to the midsection, then she looks for her patented DDT, but doesn’t get it. James catches Bayley with a forearm. Bayley ends up sending James out of the ring, then looks to fly, but Rush trips up Bayley. Balor sends Lashley out of the ring, then launches Rush out of the ring. Front flip takes both Rush & Lashley out. Back in the ring, bayley-to-belly on James and that will do it. Winners: B’N’B (Finn Balor & Bayley)
We are informed that B’N’B (Finn Balor & Bayley) will now face Mahalicia (Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox) in The Semi-Finals.
We are also informed that next week it will be The Miz & Asuka vs. Jimmy Uso & Naomi and R-Truth & Carmella vs. Jeff Hardy & Charlotte Flair. Mixed Match Challenge goes off the air.
