During the Royal Rumble event last weekend, two of the biggest fan-favorites in the entire company emerged victorious in the titular matches. Becky Lynch went on to win the women’s Royal Rumble match while Seth Rollins won the men’s Rumble match later on that evening. Fans are now looking forward to seeing Lynch face Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35, and Rollins is currently set to wrestle Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at “The Grandest Stage of Them All” this April as well. However, those matches depend on the Rumble winners being healthy enough to compete at the event. Speculation has led some to assume that both Lynch and Rollins may be dealing with injuries right now.
As reported earlier this week, Seth Rollins missed a live event that he had been scheduled to compete on in Saskatoon, Canada. On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio program, Dave Meltzer noted that he also missed another show recently in Vancouver. However, he was in Canada while WWE was in the country for those shows. Meanwhile, the Observer also mentioned that Lynch has been missing shows lately as well. Wrestling News Co. later reported that Lynch is dealing with a “legitimate left knee injury” that has required her to wear a knee brace. WWE is reportedly keeping Lynch away in order to give her some time to recover from her injuries and it is possible that they are doing the same for Rollins now as well.
Despite retiring from the ring at such as early age, Edge just about did it all in the wrestling business. Edge main evented WrestleMania, he won a Royal Rumble match, won numerous championships, and he is also a WWE Hall of Famer. However, “The Rated-R Superstar” never did compete in an Iron Man match during his wrestling career. During an episode of the E&C Pod of Awesomeness podcast, Edge was asked about his favorite match stipulations. While discussing the matter, he brought up the fact that he never wrestled in an Iron Man match but he always wanted to while he was still active. He did note some of the drawbacks of the match, but it remains one of his biggest goals that he wasn’t able to accomplish before retiring in 2011.
“I never got a chance to participate in one, but I wanted to be in an
iron man match. I really just wanted to go in there and I remember
pitching a couple of times too, and it wasn’t necessarily for an iron
man match, but I wanted to just go out there for a full hour and just do
a match. I never got a chance, but I think that would have been my
favorite stipulation just because it’s such a challenge to pace yourself
and keep the audience engaged the entire length of that type of match
and I felt like I was really up for that challenge and I never really
got to do it, but I always wanted to do it. I just think it’s a
pretty cool stipulation.” Edge said.
