Zayn Reveals When He Was Cleared, WWE Changing Undertaker’s Deal

As seen during Raw this past last week, Sami Zayn finally made his return to the ring. Zayn had missed most of 2018 due to rotator cuff injuries, but he made his in-ring comeback during the post-WrestleMania edition of Raw. He suffered a loss to Finn Balor before then cutting a heel promo on the Brooklyn crowd in attendance. Zayn is officially back on the road full time with WWE once again, but there are still a few unanswered questions surrounding his return last week. Fans may remember that WWE originally teased Zayn’s return to the ring in vignettes late last year, but he made his return one week ago. How long has Zayn been ready to wrestle again? Sami Zayn has just answered that very question.
While speaking with TVA Sports in Canada, Zayn took the time to address a couple of different aspects relating to his recent in-ring return. One of those topics included when he received word from WWE’s doctors that he had been cleared to compete. According to Zayn, WWE only cleared him about two or three days before he wrestled Balor on Raw. WWE reportedly wanted Zayn back in time for the Royal Rumble this year, but he wasn’t cleared back then. Zayn said that he is currently experiencing some inflammation in his shoulders, but he is otherwise feeling fine right now. The former NXT Champion reportedly signed a new 3-year deal with WWE not long before he took time off to recover from his injuries last year.
“I feel my shoulders and arms heavier than usual,” Zayn said. “Even after nine months, I’m not exactly where I would like to be. But just before these recent episodes of inflammation, I felt the best shape I had been in a long time.”

The Undertaker’s status with WWE has taken a bit of a turn over the past couple of months. Although “The Deadman” is still under contract with WWE and appeared on Raw last week, Undertaker missed WrestleMania this year for the first time since 2000, and he has been making some non-WWE affiliated appearances lately as well. According to the Wrestling Observer Radio show, WWE is currently working on changes to The Undertaker’s contract which will forbid him from making anymore appearances outside of events associated with the company. These changes would seem to suggest that WWE is not pleased with Undertaker accepting these bookings, and he could make more WWE appearances very soon.
