Manchester United reportedly failed in a bid to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso on loan in January.
Bayern signed Tolisso from Lyon back in 2017 for a Bundesliga transfer record, but the 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations.
A serious knee injury kept Tolisso out for the vast majority of the 2018/19 campaign and the Frenchman has struggled this season for regular game-time under Hans-Dieter Flick.
Tolisso has reportedly grown frustrated with his bit-part role and the German champions would consider letting him go in the summer as long as they are able to bring in a replacement.
But Bayern were not prepared to part with Tolisso in January, after United made an approach for the midfielder.
German publication Kicker claims Bayern ‘had no choice’ but to reject United due to a lack of depth in their squad.
Tolisso is tied to Bayern until 2022 after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract when he joined the club in 2017.
