The Nantes youngster has impressed at youth level and is already winning comparisons with Manchester United’s French midfield general
Nantes wonderkid Kamal Bafounta is being tracked by Everton and Inter as his performances draw parallels to a young Paul Pogba.
Bafounta, 16, represented France’s Under-16 team in November 2017 against Japan in the Val de Marne tournament.
His commanding presence in midfield have led many observers to dub him the ‘new Pogba’, in reference to the prodigious talent showed by the star who at just 16 moved to Manchester United.

And with Everton, Inter and also Sevilla showing interest, his stay at Nantes may prove a short one.
“He came to Lyon at 11,” Johan Renard, Bafounta’s former trainer and now head of recruitment at Lille, recalled to Goal.
“The first time I had him at Under-15 level Kamal was 13. We were playing against Bourg-Peronnas and 30 minutes in he picked up the ball in our half, dribbled past four or five players and scored.
“That move has stayed in my mind because it shows why Kamal has progressed so much. He was much bigger than the rest, his physical and technical talent gave him a huge advantage.
“What is certain is that he is less extravagant than Pogba. It’s not quite the same style of play either but I’m sure he has the ability to do as well as him”.
Having switched Lyon for Nantes, Bafounta has shown a level head and hard-working attitude even in the face of heavy hype.
“He is a very intelligent boy, polite, educated and very calm, I can’t even remember him getting angry,” Renard added.
“He has everything going for him to make the most of his talent because he is also very hard working. In training he would show an hour and a half of intensity and silence.”
For now Everton are in pole position to grab the teenager’s signature. Bafounta’s representatives received a tempting bid from Goodison Park, although the Merseysiders will still have to fight off interest from elsewhere to seal the deal.
Inter have also been active in their courting of the youngster, inviting him to the club’s training facilities in Milan and opening discussions over a move – while Sevilla have also made contact with the in-demand wonderkid.
