To Pay Tribute, Kargil Martyr’s 19-Year-Old Daughter Pens Book About Father’s Valour

In a unique tribute to her father who laid down his life defending the nation, a 19-year-old girl, brought out a book on him. The girl, Aparajita, was in fact born three months after her father Major Padmapani Acharya was killed in the Kargil war.

Major Padmapani Acharya of the city was awarded the second highest Indian military honor, Maha Vir Chakra, posthumously for his action during the Kargil War.

He had led his team from the front but became a battle casualty as Pakistan-backed terrorists entered Kargil and attacked the Indian Army.
