Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola expects a tough test against Newcastle and says Mikel Arteta will join them on Tyneside.
“Last season we lost,” Guardiola said of their clash against the Magpies.
“Newcastle away is one of the nicest stadiums in England. It is a tough test, but it will be next Tuesday at Burnley and then against Man Utd.”
On the sacking of Emery from Arsenal, Guardiola said: “I am sorry for him. Every time a manager is sacked it is not good news. It does not change my opinion of him.
“He is an incredible professional. I am sure he will find another job soon.”
Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta, who finished his playing career after five years at Arsenal, is a contender to replace Emery.
However, Guardiola dismissed suggestions he could be the new man in Arsenal’s dugout.
“He is with the squad for Newcastle. It is not a question for me,” the Spaniard added.
