Arsenal are mulling over whether to approach Carlo Ancelotti over their vacant managerial position, according to reports.
Unai Emery was sacked on Friday morning after the Gunners lost 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The result against the German outfit took Arsenal’s total games without victory in all competitions to seven.
And now the Daily Telegraph claims that Napoli boss Ancelotti is ‘among candidates to take over at Arsenal’ after Emery was given the boot.
Arsenal are looking for a ‘possible long-term successor’ to Emery and the former Chelsea boss is under serious consideration.
Ancelotti’s job is currently under scrutiny with Napoli lying in seventh position in the Serie A standings with the club in the midst of crisis and players falling out with the president.
When asked about speculation over a possible move to Arsenal – before Emery’s sacking – Ancelotti said: “I stay with Napoli, of course.
“These are rumours! I have white hair and experience. In this moment they are all rumours.”
