Mario Mandukic could start training with Manchester United as early as December before a move to Old Trafford in January, according to reports in Italy.
United could still do with attacking reinforcements, although only as back-up to their existing options after Marcus Rashford hit the goal trail and Anthony Martial returned from injury.
Mandzukic has still not played a single minute for Juventus this season with the Italian side remaining intent on offloading him, but getting something for their troubles.
That was previously thought to be a fee of around £10million. But claims from Calciomercato a couple of weeks ago suggested not only that Juve are ‘demanding’ half that, but that United are pursuing a free transfer.
And now Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim that Mandzukic ‘dreams of going to Manchester United as soon as possible’ and that a deal could be ironed out in December.
The report adds that if the Croatian seals a move to United then he would like to start training with his new team-mates as soon as possible, ideally a month before he is eligible to play.
Tuttosport adds that Juventus now value Mandzukic at €4.5million and that United haven’t given up on landing the striker.
