Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed Fred for his role in the victory over Brighton in the Premier League.
Speaking after United’s 3-1 victory over Brighton, Solskjaer picked out Brandon Williams and Anthony Martial for praise but has since lauded the performance of the £47m Brazilian, and insisted he was central to stopping Brighton from getting into the contest.
He told the club’s official website: “You get confidence from playing games. He has not really had a run of games and I think he set us up with his midfield play. He won the ball. We had to get after them because, with (Davy) Propper and (Dale) Stephens in midfield, we couldn’t let them get on the ball and I thought Fred was maybe the catalyst.
“Maybe there were a couple of fouls he shouldn’t have made in the first half to give them chances because that was one of the big opportunities they had, from set-plays. But, otherwise, he was excellent.”

The 26-year-old has now played and completed the full 90 minutes in the last five Premier League games for United, and has established himself as permanent fixture in Paul Pogba’s absence.
