This Olympic Pairs Skating Team Won a Medal Because of Their Adele Routine

Team Canada: Adele

Unlike the Russian skaters, Canadian ice dancers Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford fared better with pop music.

They went into the competition after a strong short program, but their routine to “Hometown Glory,” by Adele helped cement their place on the Olympic podium, where they took home the bronze medal.

The modern music won’t stop there, and going forward, skating fans can expect to see it included in the singles events.

The men’s figure skating short program competition, which begins Friday, will feature Olympians competing to a wide range of music, from a Jewish folk song “Hava Nagila” to Michael Buble and Snow Patrol, so it seems that the fun music choices will keep on coming.
