Romelu Lukaku says Manchester United must “play with more heart and b*ll*cks” against Barcelona next week.
United apparently slipped into ‘a crisis’ with a 1-0 defeat to Barca in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side must overcome that deficit in the Nou Camp on Tuesday, with their 3-1 comeback victory against PSG in the last round serving as inspiration.
Lukaku scored twice in that remarkable away victory in the second leg, and has called on his teammates to show a similar level of testicular fortitude.
“Taking our chances and not conceding a goal – and play with more heart and b*ll*cks,” Lukaku said, mouthing the final word because it is naughty.
“We just have to improve and do better than we did in Paris,” he added.
“We have to believe and have the desire and more quality than tonight. Then you never know what can happen in football.
“I don’t think we played with the same arrogance and confidence on the ball. The first 20 minutes of the second half we were there, but it’s something we have to do for the whole 90 minutes over there.
“We have to go with the desire, be focused and when the chance comes we have to score.”
