THE GOOD NEWS:
A nonprofit hospital just got a huge donation that will go far in helping children, thanks to actress Amber Heard.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles recently released its fiscal year 2017 donors honor roll featuring contributions and actress Amber Heard’s name was included on the list for donors giving over $1 million.
In Heard’s divorce settlement from actor Johnny Depp, she stated: “money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully, help those less able to defend themselves.”
Heard accused Depp of physical and verbal abuse, though she later withdrew her request for a domestic violence restraining order.
“My philanthropic efforts have always been centered around medical care, especially with women and children,” Heard told People. “Medical care always struck me as a basic human right and necessity. I have been doing this type of work for the last 14 years with children’s hospitals and bringing, hopefully, laughs and alleviation and distraction to kids that are severely ill.”
Heard and Depp were married for 15 months before she filed for divorce in 2016. In a joint statement, the couple referred to their relationship as “intensely passionate and at times volatile but always bound by love.”
