Terry picks out one Chelsea man for criticism in Man Utd loss

John Terry has criticised Antonio Rudiger for his part in Manchester United’s opening goal as Chelsea lost on Monday.

The Blues slipped to a damaging 2-0 loss to Man Utd on Monday night, their fifth Stamford Bridge defeat in the league already this term.

Chelsea could have opened up a nine-point gap on Man Utd with victory, but instead Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men cut the deficit to just three points on the fourth-placed Blues.

Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire got the goals but Chelsea legend Terry reckons their first goal should have been prevented by Rudiger.

“Got to think disappointed,” Terry told DAZN when asked if Chelsea would be disappointed with how they conceded the opening goal.

“Two in the box against six is disappointing to start with.

“But I think if you look at Rudiger in the build-up to that, the ball goes wide and he kind of gets sucked out into an area where he’s not really going to affect it. He can pass him on.

“If you could have Rudiger just outside the six-yard box, just to stop that run across, Martial then can’t make that run across and that just allows that second centre-half to go touch-tight and be more aggressive with him.”
