Rey Fenix was potentially injured at an AAW event this Friday night in Texas.

During the main event, Fenix performed a rolling cutter and immediately began to scream out and clutch his neck, according to live reports from the show. The other men in the match immediately went to the finish as AR Fox took Pentagon Jr.’s finishing maneuver, which actually led to the Lucha Brothers winning the AAW Tag Team Championships.

Fenix was then “stretchered” to the back using a folding table, but the live feed of the show on the Highspots Network was cut quickly after the match ended. AAW released the following statement:

In regards to Rey Fenix – he has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution due to an injury he suffered during his match this evening at #LUCHACITY. We will keep everyone appraised of any developments.

As previously reported, the Lucha Brothers also defeated LAX on Friday night through the magic of tape delay, winning the Impact World Tag Team Championships.

UPDATE #1 is reporting that Rey Fenix most likely suffered what is referred to as a “stinger” during his match at AAW last night. The injury took place when performing a rolling cutter, and sources noted that he felt “fire” running down his arms and legs before being taken to the back on a makeshift stretcher.

AAW owner Danny Daniels said on Twitter early this morning that Fenix was “okay but just needs to take it easy for a bit.”

The official word on Fenix is that he suffered a contusion in his neck, which in this case is essentially a bruising of the muscles in his neck. The good news is that the injury is not considered serious. The bad news is, he will likely be out of action for a few weeks resting up. He will miss tonight’s House of Glory event in NYC, but given that we are between Impact and MLW tapings he may not be missing any major responsibilities.
